چکیده

When a directional backlight to each eye alternates synchronously with the alternation of left-eye and right-eye images on the display panel, the viewer can see a stereoscopic image without wearing special goggles. One way to realize a directional backlight is to place a convex lens array in front of dot matrix light sources to generate collimated light. To implement this method, however, defocusing and field curvature of the lens should be taken into account. The viewing zone of an autostereoscopic display with a directional backlight using a convex lens array is analyzed based on optical simulations. © The Authors. Multi-Phase Convex Lens Array for Directional Backlights to Improve Luminance Distribution of Autostereoscopic Display

We realize homogenous luminance of the directional backlight for the time-division multiplexing autostereoscopic display using a convex lens array with the elemental lenses whose phase of placement in each row differs from one another. The validity of the proposed optical design is confirmed by a prototype system. key words: autostereoscopic display, homogeneous brightness, liner Fresnel lens a...

Tiled integral floating display without occlusion effect using an offset lens array and a perpendicular barrier.

Low resolution and narrow viewing angle are common problems for most of the existing autostereoscopic display systems. Although integral imaging is among the promising candidates for future autostereoscopic display, it is not yet free from the above bottlenecks. In this paper, a new technique to enhance the picture quality of a three-dimensional image using an offset lens array is proposed. The...

Analysis of the viewing zone of multi-view autostereoscopic displays

The viewing zone of a multi-view autostereoscopic display can be shown to be completely determined by four parameters: the width of the screen, the optimal distance of the viewer from the screen, the width over which an image can be seen across the whole screen at this optimal distance (the “eye box” width), and the number of views. A multi-view display’s viewing zone can thus be completely des...

Dynamic exit pupil trackers for autostereoscopic displays.

This paper describes the first demonstrations of two dynamic exit pupil (DEP) tracker techniques for autostereoscopic displays. The first DEP tracker forms an exit pupil pair for a single viewer in a defined space with low intraocular crosstalk using a pair of moving shutter glasses located within the optical system. A display prototype using the first DEP tracker is constructed from a pair of ...
